An Amazon team joined Good in the Hood for a hands-on Team Volunteering CSR Day, preparing meals for local people in need.

At Good in the Hood, we often say that giving back doesn’t have to be big, complicated, or even perfectly organised. Last week’s visit from the Amazon team proved just that!

It all started when a local Amazon employee, inspired by the work we do, decided to rally his colleagues for an afternoon of cooking and community spirit. Before long, a small idea turned into a full team ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved.

The Good in The Hood kitchen quickly became a hub of activity; sometimes chaotic, often full of laughter, but always energized by the sense of purpose that comes from working together to make a difference. By the end of the afternoon, the team had prepared two big batches of food, hearty meatballs in rich bolognese sauce and flavorful chicken teriyaki, sure to bring comfort and joy to local people who are currently doing it tough.

While the cooking was a highlight, what really stood out were the stories shared, the camaraderie built, and the realization that giving back can be as much fun as it is meaningful. One Amazon team member shared that she was so inspired by the experience that she plans to return, this time bringing her children along to get involved. Moments like these remind us that volunteering isn’t a chore; it’s an opportunity to connect, laugh, and feel good about making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
